Window Film Installations | Klingshield

INHOUSE INSTALLATION TEAM - PROFESSIONALLY TRAINED

Setting new standards in installation…….
While the glass in other industries have long had standards and specifications to work to, Klingshield has established it’s own quality benchmarks.

British Glass & Glazing Federation have approved a “visual quality standard” for applied films, which has been welcomed by the Klingshield Group of Companies in its performing film fields.
It applies to installed film on flatglass surfaces, which are not expected to have the same visual quality as glass.

As a member of the Medallion Group which represents the world’s finest dealers, Klingshield works to guidelines set out in these standards and will be happy to make copies available to Architects, Property Developers and Building Owners so that proper specifications for window film installations can be set out in tenders and acceptances.

INSTALLATIONS
Klingshield’s solar and safety films will also be installed as upon the recommendation issued by the South African Window Film Association.
The finished applications have very thin uniformly trimmed margins with film free of bubbles, creases or marks visible at a distance of three metres.

The Klingshield film after installations, will have a uniform appearance, with no streaks or pinholes.
Klingshield shall as necessary, provide evidence that their installers have been trained in particular types of application.
Film shall be fitted and/or seamed accurately and bonded securely to the glass surface.

Film edges shall be cut neatly and square and shall come to within 3mm to 5mm of the edge of the exposed glass.
Joints are permissible on larger windows but should be kept to a minimum using maximum material widths of 1m50cm wide. These shall be butt-joints, unless otherwise specified and shall be straight, cut and neat. Remember, if you cut too close to the edge of the frame, the film will not seal properly and will begin to curl back on itself, resulting in endless problems of peeling and curling.

Drying time to the adhesive system used to apply the film to the glass is approximately three weeks. During this curing period, you may observe some visible distortion due to the trapped bubbles of moisture. These should evaporate and disappear within two to three weeks unless the window does not get sunlight, which could take up to 6 weeks.

MAINTENANCE

The film side of the window must not be washed during the curing or drying period.
The treated glass should be cleaned with soap and water, using a soft cloth or a good quality squeegee.

As mentioned previously, whilst all reasonable care will be taken by our workmen when removing old film from glass to be reapplied with Klingshield, we must reiterate that we cannot be held responsible for any accidental breakage which might occur.

It must be remembered that glass is brittle and a very fragile material. In the removal of old film, enormous pressure has to be exerted in the scraping off of old existing material, which can and does result in cracking and breaking of the glass, which is why we cannot be held responsible for such breakage.

Installed films on car surfaces is not expected to have the same level of visual quality as glass. You must bear in mind that the cost of applying film to car glass to turn it into a safety or solar glass, is about a 50th of the price to have the car’s windows replaced with tinted laminated safety glass.

All car installations will be installed to the standards from the International Window Film Association which clearly states the perimeters that film may be applied to glass.
All our installers are highly qualified and most of them have over 20 years of experience in the application of film to car windows.
We offer a bubble-free, dust-free, factory fit application.
